On some local and nonlocal diffuse-interface 
models for tumor dynamics
The talk will be concerned with some mathematical results
for two-phase and multi-phase models describing tumor
In the first part, a diffuse interface model proposed by
Hawkins--Darrud et al. (2012) for tumour growth in the
presence of a chemical species acting as nutrient will be
presented. The system consists of a Cahn--Hilliard equation
coupled to a reaction-diffusion equation, both equations
containing suitable terms accounting for the interaction
between the nutrient and the tumor cells .
We shall mainly focus on a non-local variant of this model
with degenerate mobilities and singular potentials. This case
corresponds to a relevant situation since the degeneracy of
the mobility serves to confine the order parameter into the
physically admissible interval. For this model we shall discuss,
in particular, existence of weak solutions and their uniqueness.
In the second part of the talk we shall deal with a multiphase
model that distinguishes between different tumor cells,
presenting a recent result on existence of weak solutions.
Moreover, some open questions for all the discussed models
will be mentioned.
